Classes


Valencia Hills Community Church offers several life development classes to enrich the lives of our members and to promote spirtual growth and maturity, including the 101, 201, 301, and 401 Classes. Times and dates of our upcoming classes will be posted online when scheduled or you may phone the church office for more information.

Class 101: Introduction to Our Church
Welcome to Membership! Our vision is to help people connect to the Valencia Hills Church family and start the process of spiritual growth. We help people to take their first spiritual steps after becoming a follower of Jesus Christ through the following ministries:
  • Class 101: Introduction to our Church Family. This is where most people have their first chance to learn about Valencia Hills and what it means to become part of our church family. A clear presentation of the Gospel is given and some make their first commitment to Christ during this class!

  • Baptism: It's our privilege to serve people who want to express their commitment to Christ publicly through baptism. (Acts 2:41)  NEXT>>>  Read more on Baptism.

  • Membership: After completing the requirements for membership (Accepting Jesus Christ as savior, being baptized, completing CLASS 101, and signing the Membership Covenant), people join our church family. (Eph. 2:19) It is our joy to welcome new members into the Valencia Hills Church family.

Class 201: Introduction to Spiritual Maturity
(Excerpted From Class 201)
The purpose of Class 201, "Basic Maturity" is to understand and implement "spiritual habits" that facilitate spiritual growth and bring us to maturity in Christ.

..."We are not meant to remain as children...but grow up in every way in Christ...." Ephesians 4:14-15 (PH)

The Focus Of Basic Maturity
We focus on four (4) Spiritual Habits that every Christian needs to establish and develop in order to grow in their relationship with Christ.

  1. Daily Time in God's word
  2. Talking with God - Prayer
  3. Honoring God with my giving - Tithing
  4. Participating in God’s Family - Fellowship

What is Spiritual Maturity?
..."until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." Eph. 4:13

Spiritual maturity is being like Jesus Christ
"For from the very beginning God decided that those who came to Him... should become like His Son...." Romans 8:29 (LB)

Class 301: Service
God made you for something special!  What God made me to BE determines what He intends me to DO. I will understand the purpose I was created for when I understand the kind of person I am. This is the secret of knowing God’s will for my life! God is consistent in His plan for each of our lives. He would not give us inborn talents and temperaments, spiritual gifts, and all sorts of life experiences and then not use them! By reviewing and studying these factors, we can discover the ministry God has for us.

Class 401: Mission
God has designed you for a specific mission in this world.
Class 401 will help you gain an understanding of God's big picture. This class is the "home run" of the VHCC bases and challenges us to reach forward to a deeper level of Christian maturity. You will have time to explore several areas, including:

  • The type of person God uses
  • What did Jesus expect of his followers?
  • The importance of prayer
  • Sharing our stories with others
  • Building friendship bridges
  • Please don't send me to Africa

Your own story of how God has worked in your life is one of the most effective tools you have for connecting people to God. Learning how to communicate your story and God's story will help you become a "Fisher of men." Class 301 is NOT a pre-requisite.
