Giving at Valencia Hills Community Church
Look around you at Valencia Hills Community Church. What do you see? People talking and enjoying a cup of coffee; The VHCC Worship Band leading energetic worship music; someone diligently listening to the message and taking notes; children learning about the Bible in our Children's Ministry classes. There are many other programs beyond the Sunday service such as small groups, AWANA, Divorce Care and Celebrate Recovery Support Groups to name a few.
Each of these ministries is possible because Valencia Hills Community Church is a member supported church. Without the tithes and offerings of our members and attenders it would be impossible to offer ministries that help people to become fully developing followers of Jesus.
Give Him Your Best
“And on going into the house, they saw the Child with Mary His mother, and they fell down and worshiped Him. Then opening their treasure bags, they presented to Him gifts--gold and frankincense and myrrh” (Matthew 2:11 AMP).
Can you imagine what it must have been like for the Wise Men when they saw Jesus? Here He was just a child in a stable surrounded by animals, but these Wise Men recognized that He was the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords; the Savior of the world. Immediately, they fell on their faces to worship Him; but notice what they did next—they presented Him gifts as part of their worship. And they didn’t just give any old thing they had; they gave Him their absolute best—costly gold, frankincense and myrrh.
When we give Jesus our absolute best; our time, our talent, our resources, it is an act of worship. We are saying with our actions, “God, You mean more to me than anything. Because You are so awesome, I want to give You everything that I am.” It pleases Him when we come to Him with an open and humble heart. When we draw near to Him, He draws near to us. When you give Him your best, He gives you His best in return.
A Prayer for Today
Father in heaven, I humbly come to You, giving You all that I am. I honor You as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I bless You today for You alone are worthy of my absolute best. I love You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Imagine what would happen if 100% of VHCC's regular attenders took the step to become regular givers. These are just a few things that would be possible.
- Expansion of current ministries
- Creation of new ministries
- More lives radically changed
- Deeper personal relationships with God
- Greater impact on our city
What does the Bible say about giving?
The Bible says more about giving than Heaven, prayer, or even, faith! Here's just a sample of what God says about giving: |
- Faithful giving draws me closer to God.
"Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will be also" - Matthew 6:21
- Faithful giving is the key to a full life.
"Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and should give generously...By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may take hold of real life." - 1 Timothy 6:18-19
- Faithful giving blesses me in return.
"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it." - Malachi 3:10
- Faithful giving makes me happy.
"There is more happiness in giving than in receiving" - Acts 20:35
- Faithful giving reminds me that everything belongs to God.
"But remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth" - Deuteronomy 8:18

Why Should I Give?
- Giving helps me to grow in my faith.
- Giving supports the ministries of VHCC.
- Giving allows me to be a part of God's impact.
One of the greatest measures of spiritual maturity is how we handle the resources that God has given us. Stewardship, honoring God with our finances, is a form of discipline that will help you to become a fully developing follower of Jesus.

How Much Should I Give?
The Bible says that every believer should give a minimum of 10% of their income, or a tithe, to the local church. Anything over 10% is called an offering and is a way to honor God through giving sacrificially.
Is My Gift Tax-Deductible?
All contributions are tax-deductible. If you choose to give cash, a giving envelope must be completed in order for your gift to be tax-deductible. Giving statements are mailed at the end of each year to help you keep track of your giving. |
