Requirements to be married by a Valencia Hills Community Church Pastor
1. Both the Bride and the Groom must confess a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and be active in a local church. Our Pastors will not marry unbelievers, or join an unbeliever to a believer in marriage. God’s word is clear about spiritual compatibility between marriage partners. Please see 2 Corinthians 6:14-18.
2. If you are not yet a part of God’s family but are interested in establishing a relationship with Jesus Christ and a local church, one of our Pastors would be happy to meet with you.
3. The Bride and Groom must abstain from physical intimacy or living together prior to the wedding. Sexual intimacy within the marriage relationship is a blessing from God, but the unmarried person is commanded to treat their body as a temple of the Holy Spirit and to abstain from sexual immorality. Please see 1 Corinthians 6:18-20.
4. Both the Bride and the Groom must complete pre-marital counseling sessions that will cover husband-wife roles, understanding your spouse, how to nurture and develop healthy communication, how to resolve conflict, Biblical guidelines for your finances and God’s design for your family. You will also discuss the sanctity of the marriage covenant and the significance of your wedding ceremony.
5. To begin the process, both the Bride and the Groom must complete a personal questionnaire and schedule an interview with one of the pastors.

“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no man separate.” Mark 10:7-9 (NIV)
