MISSIONS

One of the four pillars of our church is to be Mission Engaged - striving to take the love of Jesus to our community, our nation, and our world.

Supported Missionaries and Programs

Tori Lopez

Tori has been serving at Niños Con Fe orphanage and Transition Home in Tijuana, Mexico since 2022 with VHCC. In 2024, she felt the Lord calling her to full time mission work in Mexico to help bridge the gap between churches in the United States and Niños Con Fe. Tori’s ministry focuses on connecting churches with the orphanage through organizing mission trips and building community support. She also helps the orphans personally through teaching basic English classes, nightly devotionals, crafts, tutoring, preparing meals, and other day to day needs.

Jon and Jocelyn B. with Emma, Josiah, Lucas, Eli, & Saffron

Jon and Jocelyn have been serving in East Asia since 2004.  Their primary responsibility is to oversee their organization’s short-term program called Serve Asia, which hosts 500-800 short-term workers per year with approximately half of them coming from Asian countries. Investing in short-term workers is one of the most strategic ways they can grow and empower the next generation of missional leaders.

Finally Family Homes

Finally Family Homes is a nonprofit based in Santa Clarita offering solutions to the challenges youth aging out of foster care face. VHCC works alongside this organization to partner with youth who are leaving foster care without being placed in a forever family. Wo help them succeed in life and tackle their risk factors for homelessness and human trafficking by empowering them to achieve meaningful connections, success, and a positive impact on the world.

Lindsay Shifflet

Lindsay has been serving in Cape Town, South Africa since 2017. Her ministry focuses primarily on anti-trafficking education with A21 South Africa, counseling pregnant moms at a local government hospital, and co-leading The Butterfly Ministry, which ministers to women in the prostitution industry. Her desire is to see South African men and women, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, transformed and equipped by the gospel and healthy, holistic discipleship so they can change their lives, their families, and their communities.

Ninos con Fe

The mission behind Ninos Con Fe Orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico, is to care for children in situations of abuse or poverty. This Christian organization gives them tools to overcome their social condition and empower them to become more self-sufficient and positive influences in their society. Our bi-monthly mission trips help provide over twenty-five orphans with opportunities to learn about Jesus through activities, Bible sermons, and worship, as well as teaching them be witnesses to their own families, friends, and community.

Hope Gardens

Hope Gardens is a ministry of Union Rescue Mission for senior women and single moms, providing transitional housing and programs while the women are there. We get to serve the Hope Gardens residents through visiting the senior women, many of which do not have local family members or any family connections, and spend time listening to their stories, encouraging them with scripture, and doing crafts together.

Mike Broyles

Mike is the Executive Director of Lifeline Global Ministries, working around the world to bring hope and healing to families in prison. Lifeline is in 32 states in the USA and 20 countries around the world. The Christ-honoring curriculum taught is titled Malachi Dads for men and Hannah’s Gift for women. Locally, we are in the L.A. County jails (Pitchess Detention Center) with over 10 Bible study classes that are active and lead by volunteers from VHCC and other local churches.

Bridge to Home

Bridge to Home, Santa Clarita’s homeless shelter, bridges the gap for the homeless from the streets to the shelter to permanent housing. Along the way they also help provide social services, vocational assistance, and other programs to help them transition back into society. We have the privilege of coming alongside this ministry each month by preparing home-cooked meals and hosting annual events such as the Summer Bash and Christmas Party.

SBC Cooperative Programs

VHCC is able to support missionaries around the world through the SBC Cooperative Program. As churches throughout the nation give, we are able to mobilize 3600 global missionaries, spreading the Good News of the Gospel throughout the world. Part of these funds are also given to theological education ministries, helping teach the Word of God to future leaders, pastors, and disciple makers.
